Miranda - Designer/Maker

My inspiration is drawn from my surroundings, the landscapes, seascapes, the people and not forgetting the characterful animals from farm cattle to small voles that I come across many days.

My current ceramic collection reflects my love of the Cornish Hedges (stone walls) which remind me of high rise blocks for wildlife and vegetation. Constantly changing as we move through the seasons.

I came to clay much later in life. Whilst taking my daughter to view the Art College in Plymouth I was so amazed by the facilities and opportunities that the college offered that I signed up for a degree course myself!

I opened and ran a pottery studio for a couple of years whilst doing my degree where I had the joy of teaching both hand building and wheel throwing classes. It was a pleasure to share my passion for clay with my community.

Unfortunately, I was diagnosed as having ME and had to close my pottery studio and end my degree course early. I spent a couple of years bedbound and housebound. Gradually my health has improved sufficiently that I have been able to start making ceramics again, but I will never be completely free of this illness.
